What has the Association achieved for the Private Hire trade to-date?
The Private Hire Association has:
- Initiated the introduction of a pilot scheme for private hire vehicles to access bus lanes.
- Worked in partnership with Smoke-free Birmingham to promote the private hire trade.
- Worked in partnership with Birmingham City Council and the Police in deploying private hire marshals around Sutton Coldfield Town Centre
- Name changes on plates
- Increased MOT ramps at Park Road
- Followed by increased MOT Stations
- Early dates to collect Badge and Plate Documents
- Introduced Power of Attorney for renewal of Badge and Plate document
- Legal representation for drivers at Magistrates Court and at committee hearings
- Gained approval for rear windscreen advertising on private hire vehicles
- Introduced safety products to trade (Safe Shield, Autocab CCTV, Taxicam etc.)
- Introduced a Road Surgery to engage directly with the private hire drivers
- Launched specialist private hire services for the trade
- Published a Newsletter to inform the trade of current affairs
- Launched an on-site maintenance, repair and pre-MOT centre for the trade
- Launched on-site NVQ Level 2 in Road Passenger Transport Course
